Automated Additional Features

Additional Features of Automated Programmers

Non-stop programming

The 3000 Series advanced JEDEC tray shuttles allow true non-stop programming. The system can be set up to place programmed devices back into the same tray or into another empty tray. When a full tray of programmed parts is ejected, programming can continue non-stop using a secondary tray.

The optional TS-1500 tray stacker gives the capability for true non-stop programming as well. One tray stacker unit can process up to 24 JEDEC trays of components before needing operator intervention. Additional trays may be added without pausing the job. The TS-1500 is an option available on 3000 Series and 4000 Series Automated Programming Systems.

Vision Centering for Components

Vision Centering is a leading-edge technology that precisely measures, aligns (on four axes: X, Y, Z and theta), and places components into system sockets without touching the leads. This results in highly accurate part placement. Since alignment is performed on-the-fly, throughput is not degraded by the vision centering operation.

To assure precision over time, automated systems feature closed-loop positioning. This self-calibrating mechanism assures accurate part placement by automatically compensating for variations and wear.

Component Feeders and Programmed Component Output

The automated programming system can operate a variety of input and output options with tubes, trays, or tape. The versatility of the system allows the user to load components from one storage medium and place them into another.

The TS-1500 tray stacker accessory can attach to any automated system providing it with an uninterrupted supply of up to 24 trays of parts. Once the tray is filled with programmed devices, it is placed in a separate completed stack for retrieval by the operator.

The tube stacker accessory provides an uninterrupted stream of components from tube media. It features the ability to discard an empty tube and replace with an endless supply of full tubes. Standard tape input feeders and tape output accessories are also available. These feature the option of heat seal or pressure seal tape. Interchangeable taping heads allow for quick trouble-free set ups. The One-Stop is a tape feeder that features an integrated laser system for component marking, eliminating transfer time to a separate marking station.

Component Marking

The optional CO2 laser marker provides an economical way to mark devices. The laser marking system requires very little maintenance and no consumable supplies for marking. Laser marking is the preferred method for fine pitch devices because it does not introduce coplanarity defects.

Alternatively, BPWin software will accommodate the support of third party labeling systems. The customer simply "teaches" the location at which the label is to be presented for pickup by the pick and place nozzle. After each part passes programming, the autohandler retrieves the label and places it on the device before continuing to the output location.

Total Control through software

JobMaster proprietary automated production software, gives you total control of device programming operations so that you can set up jobs to precise specifications, save the process to the system’s internal hard drive or to your network, and repeat the same jobs easily. You can also monitor programming via the control software, which displays the status and throughput yield of each site, as well as job throughput, in large, easy-to-read, color graphics. Operator mode allows users to program devices, but does not allow the operator to change the job specifications without a password. The software offers additional features like serialization and checksum verification.

The Best Device Support

Along with the fastest Flash programming speed comes the versatility to program the most devices — including the latest Flash memories, MCUs, PLDs, FPGAs and antifuse FPGAs. No other automated programmer supports more devices. All automated systems support thousands of devices and BPM Micro updates that support with new devices every six weeks.

The Best Package Support

Not only do BPM Micro’s automated programming systems support the most device types, they also support more device packages than any other automated programmer. So if you’re programming the smallest µBGAs and Chip Scale Packages or even the largest DIP and QFPs, BPM Micro has the support for you. In fact, BPM Micro has hundreds of automated socket modules and socket cards available today. Changeover is easy, too. For example, changing from Flash to MCUs or µBGAs to DIP only requires replacing the socket modules or socket cards, while other programmers may require you to change programming sites.

High Programming Yield

BPM Micro programmers are engineered to achieve uncompromised programming yield. Only manufacturer certified or qualified algorithms are used and BPM Micro’s pin drivers deliver high-fidelity programming waveforms free from the effects of overshoot, noise, and ground bounce. Devices must pass a rigorous visual inspection and continuity test before programming begins. And, by using the same test and burn-in sockets that semiconductor manufacturers use, compatibility is assured.

Easy transition from design to production

BPM Micro supports your design throughout its life. Our engineering and automated programming systems both run the same algorithms to ensure a rapid transition from design to production.

Simplified Maintenance & Training

BPM Microsystems supports automated programming systems with a direct factory 24/7 hotline and a worldwide network of authorized repair centers. Complete maintenance and operation training is available to teach customers how to operate, configure, and service the unit. Even though this is the most powerful automated programmer available, maintenance and training could not be simpler. BPM Micro’s single computer controls all the functions including the handler, marking options, and programming. This simplifies software and hardware troubleshooting. With self-teaching, fast and easy changeovers, and reduced maintenance, utilization rates are high. In one half-day session our engineers will show your operators the ins and outs of the easiest automated programming system on the market.
